preparado antes en Angostura por el DOCTOR SIEGERT,
y ahora en Puerto España, Trinidad, por sus
hijos y sucesores bajo la conocida firma de
DR. J. G. B. SIEGERT & HIJOS.
ESTE AMARGO ademas de distinguirse por su suavidad
y olor aromático de las demás gotas amargas comunmente
usadas, es un excelente confortativo 7 estimulante eficaz para
~¿¿ *¿Cs efficacious stimulent to incite the appetite. They are prin-
abrir las ganas de comer. Se toma ordinariamente mezclado
con vino blanco, ron ú otro licor espirituoso, en mas ó
menos cantidad como de media cucharada poco antes del
almuerzo y de la comida ó á cualquiera otra hora que fuere
apetecido ; puede también tomarse en agua de azúcar ó siró,
de cuyo modo resulta una mezcla mui agradable, propiamente
aplicable á las mugeres y niños. — Es al mismo tiempo un
remedio contra la indigestión, fiatulencia, las afecciones
o histéricas ó hipocóndricas, el cólico, resfriado, debilidad y
dolqr de estómago, como también contra la diarrea que pro
viene de relajación y debilidad en los órganos digestivos
La dosis en ostos casos es de media hasta una cucharada,
tomada, según la violencia ó lenidad del ataque una ó mas
veces en una hora ó en todo el dia, hasta desaparecer el
Ipfe^lenaccidente, mezclándola con un poco de agua de azúcar, con
vino, ó pura. — Es ademas un buen cortante para las ca
lenturas con frió, y también un preservativo contra dichas
enfermedades : usado como cortante debe tomarse media hasta
una cucharada, dos, tres, cuatro ó mas veces ai dia duranto
el tiempo libre de la calentara con cualquiera de las mezclas]
indicadas : usado como preservativo, se tomará según su apli
cación ordinaria arriba dicha. — Usándolo para niños de dos
anos arriba, ha de ser la dosis á proporción de la edad, de
20 hasta 60 gotas. — Últimamente, sirve para componer el
ron nuevo, quitándole su mal olor y mal gusto, dándole luego
un buen olor y buen sabor semejante al ron viejo; para
la composición de un galón de ron con dos cucharadas de
amargo es suficiente.
0^ Ademas de las yá referidas buenas propiedades de
este amargo, tiene también la importante cualidad de servir
como remedio contra el Colera-Morbus y las Colerinas or
diñarías, según las esperiencias hechas sobre el particular. —
Su dosis en tales casos es de una hasta dos cucharadas, re
petida cada dia por tres, cuatro ó mas veces, hasta obte
nerse un favorable resultado, el cual sucede á menudo. -
Para mugeres y niños se suministran en proporción tomas
mas pequeñas. — Bébase mezclado con vino generoso, co-
naque, ó puro. — Su uso ordinario, diario, como gotas amar
gas, sirve de preservativo contra dichas enfermedades.

odeur agróable qui le fait presque passer pour du vieux rhum: deux cuillerées sont suffisantes pour cinq bouteiUes de rhum ou un gallón. En outre de la propriété utile de cet amer, ou bitters il est aussi anticholórique et tres utile dans la
cholerine, d'aprés les expériences thérapeutiques faites par lui. La dose est en pareil cas d'une a deux cuillerées répótées trois ou quatre fois par jour jusqu'a ce que Ton ait obtenu le résultat désiró qui arrive souyent. — Pour les femmes et
les enfants, la dose sera nécessairement plus faible; on Tadministrera dans un vin gónóreux, dans de l'.eau de vie ou méme pur. Son usage journalier comme gouttes ameres est un bon préservatif contre les maladies indiquóes plus haut.
